I have heard that distilled water is acidic, is this true?
The process of distillation, as well as other water purification techniques, tend to remove minerals from the water. This can cause the water to become more acidic. This is why I add alkaline minerals to my water. Then I don't have to worry about the acidity of the water, because the pH is brought up significantly by the minerals. Nature's Way In nature water basically goes thru a distillation process in the form of rain. Water evaporates, condenses into clouds and falls back to the earth. As it flows over and through the ground it picks of minerals. Pure mountain spring water tends to be alkaline depending on the location and which minerals predominate in the area. The Big Problem The big problem is that almost all water on the planet in polluted. Prescription drugs, pesticides, industrial pollution are just a few of the toxins that have been identified in water, not to mention additives like chlorine and fluoride. That's why I ALWAYS, drink purified water in some form. Distilled and reverse osmosis, get my vote for the best form of purification. There is some evidence that people who consume only distilled water over a long period of time,- several years, tend to suffer from health problems. That's why I add back the alkaline minerals to my water. This closely replicates the way nature works and provides my body with pure, highly alkaline water. While there are several products on the market designed to make your water alkaline by adding minerals, my favorites include: Nature's Sea Calcium Nature's Sunshine Coral Calcium Magnesium Complex Both the Sea Calcium and Coral come in powdered form. For the magnesium, I just open a capsule and stir into my water. I drink lots between meals. I have found that it's not a good idea to drink much with or right after a meal, as it dilutes the stomach acid and digestive juices. Since I've consumed my share of polluted water in my younger years, before I became enlightened about natural health, I use Natural Cellular Defense , to help rid my body of toxins. |
